Students are responsible for requesting the CSU/IGETC Certification to be included with their transcripts. This service is only available when certification and a transcript are being sent to a participating institution.
A GE certification will confirm that you have completed the transfer requirements to transfer to a specific university.
- The CSU GE Certification is for students planning to transfer to a California State University.
- The IGETC Certification is for students planning to transfer to a University of California or California State University.
The Admissions and Records staff want to make sure your GE Certification is completed correctly and in a timely manner, therefore, please read the flowing instructions:
Apply for IGETC Certification in your last semester or session at GCC as follows:
- IGETC Certification is applicable for transfer to the UC AND CSU systems primarily. Be sure to specify the system and campus to which you have applied.
- To met the foreign language requirement for UC Only you need to submit your high school transcripts
- Partial Certification can be requested which is defined as completing all but two (2) course on the IGETC pattern.
- Request partial certification only if you do not plan to complete the IGETC requirements before transfer.
- An official GCC transcript will be sent to the campus indicated with your IGETC.
Apply for CSU Breadth Certification in your last semester or session at GCC as follows:
- CSU Breadth Certification is applicable for transfer to the CSU systems. Be sure to specify the campus to which you have applied.
- Partial Certification requests will indicate on your transcript which areas you have completed.
- Request partial certification only if you do not plan to complete the CSU Breadth requirements before transfer.
- An official GCC transcript will be sent to the campus indicated with your CSU Breadth.
