Who needs DE Certification?

In keeping with Federal and State regulations, the Guild, Academic Senate, and District have agreed that “Distance Education is instruction in which the instructor and student are separated by time and/or distance and interact through the assistance of technology.” In light of this, synchronous, asynchronous, HyFlex, Hybrid, and Proctored Online Class (POC) instruction at GCC requires DE Certification.

What is GCC Annual DE Recertification?

DE Recertification to teach online, GLOW UP!, has been negotiated by the Guild and District. Full-time faculty complete 3 hours of DE-pedagogical PD per year, and Part-time faculty complete 2 hours of DE pedagogical PD per year to maintain currency and DE Certification at GCC per Guild MOU
