Music

This degree or certificate is designed to help students who will be entering the music industry or a field where a knowledge of music will be helpful. Students will choose to focus on a particular area of study. Students will develop musical skills, learn to analyze and recognize musical patterns, and gain a breadth of knowledge of our diverse musical world. These music courses are designed to help students think, create, and collaborate in a critical, expressive, and articulate manner. Students must complete the required courses and choose additional courses to total a minimum of 22 units. Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will be able to apply fundamental theory, musicianship and analytical skills to music. Students will develop a basic knowledge of music history and demonstrate keyboard competency. Students will perform in at least one major performance area at a level appropriate for their particular music concentration. The courses are divided into four categories: core classes, instrumental and vocal classes, performing ensembles, and electives.
